Beach

Kaisercraft Sketch Challenge - August # 1

I decided to scrap a picture of Isabella the first time she saw the beach in real life.  I've used the Seaside Collection and I have rotated the sketch 45deg clockwise.  I also wanted to incorporate journalling because I'll never forget the look on her face but as the sketch didn't incorporate an area for journalling I decided to hide it behind my photo.

Things I Love About You

Kaisercraft July Sketch Challenge # 2

Again I found this challenge a bit tricky.  I decided to rotate it 45deg clockwise and only use the one photo.  I've used KC Candy Lane, American Crafts Backyard Twitter and Craft Fair, Cratepaper Paper Doll Collection, Hobby Fun Co., Echo Park Life is Good stickers and journal cards and Upikit Stationery Enterprise Co.

At Work With Dad

I seem to be dragging my tail this month.  Two weeks were eaten up with a very busy school holidays and then we had Bella's 3rd birthday.  So far I've only got Kaisercraft's July # 3 Saturday sketch accomplished.  Here's the sketch....

Below is my interpretation of the sketch.  I really struggled with this one.  One because it was a boy layout and I find it so difficult to think of ways to make these pages POP!  Two because it had so many photo's which didn't leave much room for embellishments.  It truly was a challenge in the true sense of the competition!

I've used Kaisercraft collections:- Little Toot, Check In, Great Southern Land & Rewind

Believe

Well I said earlier I really wanted to have a go at the mixed media canvases that I came across on Gabrielle Pollacco's blog at http://gabriellepollacco.blogspot.com.au/ and I did!!!!

I just loved how there was a randomness to putting all together and I quite enjoyed getting my hands dirty.  I absolutely love how the canvas turned out.  This will definately be hanging in my new craft room.

Blue Eyes

Kaisercraft June Sketch Challenge # 4

http://www.kaisercraft.com.au/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/June_Cherish.jpg

I tipped this sketch 45degrees anti clockwise and this is what I came up with using Kaisercraft Little Toot collection.  The train on my son's jumper is what inspired me to use that range.

I had a piece of Bo Bunny paper with a rail crossing on it but I really didn't want to cut into it just for that so I decided to make my own.  I'm actually really terrible at drawing/sketching but surprisingly I think it turned out quite good.

Also I'm a bit disappointed with the crooked stitching.  I didn't use my sewing machine as all the kids were asleep so I hand stitched and it was a long process.  Next time the machine comes out!

Mixed Media Canvases

I just cannot go by without writing about some amazing mixed media canvases I've seen while catching up on some blog reading.

These were created by Gabrielle Pollacco.  She is an amazingly talented woman with a distinctive shabby chic style and all of her work is just gorgeous.  She has posted a video tutorial and also the templates for the dolls so why not stop by her blog at Such A Pretty Mess
http://gabriellepollacco.blogspot.com.au/ for inspiration.

Rumble Buddies

Kaisercraft Saturday Sketch Challenge - June week # 3

http://www.kaisercraft.com.au/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/June_Santorini.jpg

My interpretation of the sketch

I wanted to scrap a picture of my eldest son but it's become apparent that he has a talent of being very elusive when I get the camera out.  Something I'm now taking on as a challenge to catch him unaware.  So instead I decided to use a picture of some brotherly love.

I've used Kaisercraft Rough & Tough collection, Alison Ellis Design die cut frame & tags, with a few other odds and ends that I had in my scrap stash.

Concept Drawings

After a few revisions I am now on my way to having some working drawings in my hot little hands and I am super excited.  I've managed to fit a scrap room of 4.3mx2.7m plus 2 built in cupboards.  It's more than I ever dreamt of having in this home!  I must say though it's still really borderline dreaming because I need to see what the builders come back with for a quote to see whether the additions are viable or whether to pack up and sell and buy something bigger.

I can't believe how much time it has already taken up researching down to every little detail what I want in the addition.  I've made a list and on the surface it doesn't seem too daunting but trust me it is.  It is so hard trying to visualise how everything is going to work together.

I'm off tomorrow to get a quote for my kitchen.  I would have to say this is the one room that I look forward to the most being designed.  I just hope the picture in my head doesn't come to big $'s on paper!!!!

Twiddleybitz Steampunk Clock

Tonight I'm sharing a Twiddleybitz Steampunk Clock I done as a favour for a friend who is having trouble with her eyesight at the moment.  She didn't want the steampunk/grunge look so I decided to use Kaisercraft's Sorbet collection and this is what I came up with for her.  I hope she likes it.

Domestic Goddess

Kaisercraft June Sketch # 2

http://www.kaisercraft.com.au/blog/saturday-sketch-2-june-2012/june_unique/

I'm running a week behind where I want to be but anyhow here is my interpretation of Kaisercraft's June sketch # 2.

I went searching through my digital photo's for something to use with this sketch and I found myself looking back on older photo's and it suddenly impacted on me just how quickly my children are growing up.  It gets so chaotic and busy that the time just seems to disappear and then I'm faced with this realisation that my children are not babies anymore.  It's given me a reminder to STOP.  Stop and and take time out of my day to just sit and watch my children.  Enjoy them as these small people and store it away.

That's really the essence of why I love to scrapbook.  It is that STOP.  It is a time for reflection and reminiscing.  A time to remember and then record that memory.

I just love this picture of my youngest daughter Isabella.  She was 1.5yrs in this pic and now she is almost 3.  The whole scene of the shoes and the basket, it's her personality all over.

I used Kaisercraft "Little Miss" and "Hippy Girl" collections.  Some oldies but they came together quite nicely.

Little Lady

Kaisercraft's June sketch # 1
http://www.kaisercraft.com.au/blog/saturday-sketch-1-june-2012/june_wishyouwerehere/

Hi today I'd like to share my interpretation of Kaisercraft's June sketch #1.  It is a layout of my eldest daughter going for a cruise in her dad's sportscar and thinking she was quite special and grown up.  Many people tell me that she has the mannerisms of an old soul and very dainty.  I have been told that she is born again from a time long ago.  She is very beautiful.  I felt that Kaisercraft's Love Notes while conventionally is a "lovers" collection matched perfectly with her girly girl personality and whimsical theme.

Autumnal Face

An unconventional colour scheme for this autumn layout.  I'd already done an autumn layout of my daughter years ago in the traditional browns, reds, warm colours so I wanted to try something a bit more colourful.

All of the embellishments are handmade.  Buttons, rolled flowers, leaves, tree, bird on a branch....
